I am a medical herbalist, grower and researcher. Previously, I managed the professional programme for clinical herbal practitioners at Middlesex University, UK. My research interests span from historical domestic medicine and recipes to present-day sustainable supplies of herbal medicine. I am a member of the advisory board for the Journal of Herbal Medicine, and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Exeter, UK. My publications include Household Medicine in Seventeenth-Century England, (2016), The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook (2020) and Trees and Shrubs That Heal (2023). I cofounded the Holt Wood Herbs project based on permaculture design principles, transforming a redundant conifer plantation into a thriving medicinal forest garden. At present I am developing the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust and working with several groups to on medicinal forest garden projects.
