Alfoxton Park House
Alfoxton Park is a Triratna Buddhist, land-based retreat centre in the UK, drawing inspiration from nature and the arts where people can awaken to the depth and breadth of human experience. We're based in a magical location in Somerset, Southwest England, not far from Bristol.
In June 2020, we received the keys to the property - an historic building connected to the birth of Romantic poetry as the home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. It had been neglected for many years, leaving the house in serious need of restoration. It's a magical place set within 52 acres of ancient woodland with herds of red deer grazing the hillside.
Since then, our community based on Buddhist ideals have been working to restore the house and tend to the land. We’ve been running retreats and events and welcoming hundreds of volunteers and visitors. Watch our video Alfoxton is calling to get a glimpse into what we're all about. Jed and Tomas have also given advice and support in a number of aspects of site development, in particular the restoration of the walled garden and the use of water on site.
