Feral Dutch Design 2020

Call for participation & work
De Kloosterbostuin in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, warmly invites all European permanauts to submit proposals to participate in and exhibit recent innovative work relating to sustainable lifestyles in a post-climate, post-urban world. Work can cover all aspects of life and livelihood, preferably in a tangible form. We are also open for proposals for workshops, courses and performances.

First harvest in De Kloosterbostuin 2019

During the event there will be indoors and outdoors exhibitions, performances, fashion show, music, food, workshops, open spaces, courses and whatever else is on offer.

What is it?

Dutch Design Week is an annual international design show during the last full week of October. Last year it drew more then 350,000 visitors from all over the world and 2600 designers showing their most recent work. Even though in the past few years "green" and "sustainable" design has been featured prominently in the show, it was generally a greenwashing of inherently unsustainable urban life. Due to the triple bottom line of biodiversity, climate (energy) and material resource emergencies, new windows are opening. There is a renewed interest in rewilding not just nature but also our own human societies and individual lives.

"Feral" is an interesting term in the English language.feral |ˈfi(ə)rəl; ˈferəl|adjective(esp. of an animal) in a wild state, esp. after escape from captivity or domestication : a feral cat.• resembling a wild animal : a feral snarl.

ORIGIN early 17th cent.: from Latin fera ‘wild animal’ (from ferus‘wild’ ) + -al .
The association with "escape from captivity or domestication" is particularly appropriate. What we are looking to present with Feral Dutch Design 2020 are the right tools to liberate and repair ourselves as we must liberate and repair the landscape, if we want to live.

If you are interested to participate or exhibit work, please send a proposal, no more then 1000 words, with good quality images or links to images and video, by email to info [at] dekloosterbostuin [dot] nl (info[at]dekloosterbostuin[dot]nl). Submission deadline is 15 February 2020.
If you would like more information, feel free to contact us at info [at] dekloosterbostuin [dot] nl (info[at]dekloosterbostuin[dot]nl).
