Bohemian forest garden is situated in region with rolling hills and many orchards, some of which are being re-planted. The vegan forest garden has been planted here since 2016, next to an old wooden house (registered cultural heritage), that is being renovated with natural building materials – wood, stone, clay plaster. Katka, who lives here, is a permaculture teacher, so sometimes she leaves the place to teach, other times the place is hosting groups of Czech or international volunteer weekends.

The no-dig garden is full of traditional old varieties, some new and resistant sorts are being tested here, including perennial vegetables – you can learn alot here about edible weeds and medicinal plants, as well as the art of seed-saving. Ayurveda and yoga are an integral part of everyday life.

Crafts here are being done mainly with hand tools – scything the meadow is a daily joy during the season, woodland is being coppiced with japaneese hand tools, often some clay plastering needs to be done, or mozaik and/or land-art in the garden, furniture is getting renovated, sheeps wool is being felt here into hats... The jobs for 2025 year are: mending the stone walls in the garden, fininshing the fotovoltaic power system, re-painting the windows, innoculating edible mushrooms into logs, biochar making, as well the regular joy in the garden, chopping wood for winter, harvesting herbs and preserving fruits. Cooking is done together sometimes on the fire, sometimes in a solar oven, drinking water is in the nearby forest.

Composting toilet is outside, bathroom has an outdoor and indoor option, and although the house is very small, wwoofers get a private room (tent is optional). The village is surprisingly alive with young families and a home of a few friendly neighbours to visit (organic farmers, craftsmen) and often we host a festival of music and dance, film, or theatre… or just sit around the fire. Surrounding hills offer a reason for stroll and inspiration for music and meditation.

Katka herself learnt alot thanks to wwoofing some years ago, so she is happy to offer the same to the enthusiastic wave of newcomers.
