At the European Permaculture Network (EuPN), we believe in celebrating the dedication and achievements of permaculture educators and practitioners. That's why we’ve introduced a new badge system—designed to recognize and showcase the credentials of permaculture teachers, courses, and certified places across our network.
What Are the EuPN Badges?
The EuPN badges are visual markers that signify a level of assurance and certification in permaculture education and practice. Whether you're an assured teacher, a certified course organizer, or a recognized permaculture site, the badges serve as a clear signal of your commitment to high standards and quality education within the permaculture community.
Types of Badges Available
- Assured Teacher: Awarded to teachers who have undergone peer reviews and meeting set criteria - the have a TPT and a Diploma in Permaculture
- PermaHub: For active permaculture sites that host multiple courses per year.
- Assured Course (only PDC): Only given to courses that have an Assured Teacher teaching and are a certified PermaHub.
How the Badge System Works
The badge system is fully integrated into our website's functionality. Once a teacher, course, or place has met the required standards, the relevant badge is assigned and displayed on their profile or course page. This system ensures transparency - data doesn't lie - and trust within the permaculture community.
You can check out the embedded "PermaHub" and "Assured Teacher" badges at the Beyond Buckthorns website.
Why Badges Matter
The badges act as a form of verification, helping students and organizations identify qualified teachers and reputable courses. For teachers and practitioners, it’s a way to demonstrate their expertise and gain recognition for their work. For potential students, it's a way to confidently select courses and mentors, knowing they meet the standards set by the community.
