Our homestead is a small but growing family project launched in 2024 when we bought our 0.2 ha plot nestled between a mature oak forest, the sea, and the mountains — right on the Basque border between France and Spain.

As a suburban site, we aim to demonstrate that size doesn’t matter when it comes to permaculture: even in a compact space, we can design resilient, abundant, and joyful systems.

Mayi, a biologist and professional permaculture designer, leads the design process. Andre brings his experience as a former forester and tree planter. Together with our three children, we’re cultivating a space that is both practical and playful — keeping our childlike curiosity alive.

Our homestead includes:

  • Family-scale vegetable production
  • Plant propagation experiments
  • A future food forest
  • Ducks, chicken, cats, hedgehogs, and more...
  • Creative, hands-on experiments in permaculture living

It’s a living lab where learning, fun, and ecological regeneration go hand in hand.

I’m a Basque permaculture designer with a passion for ecology, environmental conservancy, education and zero waste movement. My curiosity and eagerness to learn have lead me to very diverse experiences.
